Providing Spiritual, Practical and Emotional Help & Support
God calls the church to be an agent of healing and support for those going through crises or need. We as a church seek not only to reach in to our own church family, but also to act as an extension of God's love and care to those within our community of Westhill, Kingswells and Skene.
What help can we offer? There are three main areas of help at the moment
1. Practical Care- Our Practical Care Team coordinate any help needed. They have a skills register with the names of people within our church who can share practical help and skills with others. These skills can range from providing meals, garden maintenance to things like DIY in the home or simply providing transport for someone who needs to make a doctor's or hospital appointment. We provide this especially for those going through particular times of need such as illness, family difficulties, depression, the arrival of a new baby and so on.
2. Support for the Bereaved- The death of someone close to you can be one of the most painful experiences you could ever suffer. We have people who are able to come alongside those who have been bereaved. They are NOT trained counsellors but ordinary people who have themselves travelled through that difficult journey of grief and loss and who are now better equipped to understand, help and support others.
3. Befriending Service- During times of crises or difficulty we all need a friend; someone who is able to come alongside us, someone who will listen and care and someone we can feel safe with- or maybe we we simply need someone with whom we can have a chat and a coffee. We have people who can befriend you at those times when you need a friend.
Do you need to be a member of the Westhill Episcopal Church ? Absolutely NOT ! We want to help anyone within the community, be they church folk or not.
